People's Warden: Chapter report

Lots of updating to do from your People’s Warden ─

We have five vacancies in the Chapter: four completed their three-year tenure and a one-year replacement for Cassie Lewis who resigned for personal reasons (a marriage at the end of this month!). The Nominating Committee has tapped five replacements, four new members and one to complete Cassie’s term. You can meet them at the Forum on January 13.

Cheryl Wilson , St. Paul’s Episcopal Homes (SPEH), reported that SPEH is financially very healthy; the PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program will be expanded to Calexico, CA; and that various government regulatory surveys have given SPEH a “five star rating.” John Rush and Chris McCormack were nominated and approved as new SPEH board members.

Dr. Stew Dadmun presented a report on the Endowment Committee. The committee recommended that David Behling serve a second three-year term and the Chapter approved. Betsey Monsell was nominated to serve the remaining two years of Doug Clark’s three-year term and she also was approved by Chapter.

The Building & Grounds Committee reported that Cathedral boiler has serious rust damage needing repair; the cross beam above the Cathedral chancel is cracked and needs repairs. But, the good news, the organ restoration will be completed by or before the end of January. I hope all of you were able to attend the Christmas services to hear the new organ (80% restored at that point).

The Rev. Canon Allisyn Thomas reported that Canon Brooks Mason will be ordained to the Permanent Diaconate on April 7, 2013; Colin and Laurel Mathewson will be ordained to the Transitional Diaconate on June 8, 2013. Congratulations to all three.

The Profile Committee has worked diligently and a draft will be presented at the January meeting.

Kendall Squires is retiring as Cathedral Chancellor and the Chapter will vote on a new Chancellor at the January meeting."

If I’ve left anything out, or you have any questions, I encourage you to talk to me during coffee hour after the 10:30pm service, or contact me at jmoore405@att.net.

A healthy, happy and prosperous New Year to each of you!

Judy Moore, People's Warden
