PACE Apartments open!

We are very pleased to announce the opening of the PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) apartments! Many of you generously donated to this project. On Monday, Nov. 4th, Dean McLain, Vicki Hoppenrath, and several others who contributed to this project were invited to attend, and be part of, the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Representatives from the various agencies who were a part of this project and those who generously contributed were acknowledged. The Cathedral received a plaque recognizing our contributions. There is also a plaque hanging in the hallway of the apartment building listing the various donors.

The eleven apartments are beautiful! They are on the third floor of a 1920s era building that has been completely refurbished while maintaining the charm of the era. Jerome’s Furniture, as well as an organization at USD, donated all of the furniture. The soft furnishings: bedding, bathroom necessities, kitchen utensils and small appliances, etc. were donated by members of our Congregation.

We were blessed to be able to talk to the first resident. He was so delighted to have a beautiful space of his own. For the first time in years, he has his own kitchen and a bathroom which he does not have to share. He now lives in a neighborhood he feels safe to walk in. He also has a beautiful view of the Bay and beyond.

St. Paul’s Cathedral has indeed been blessed to be a small part of assisting some of the seniors who are clients of St. Paul’s Senior Homes PACE program.
