People's warden report

As the People’s Warden of St. Paul’s Cathedral, I am on the Cathedral’s Chapter (Board of Directors, if you will) which primarily oversees the finances as well as the buildings and grounds of the Cathedral. I serve on the Endowment and Finance Committees as well as the Board of Directors of Saint Paul’s Senior Homes and Services. Yet as the People’s Warden, I envision myself primarily as representing the interests of the people of our congregation and as such I will continue to keep you up to date on what the Chapter is doing.

A few notes from our May 7th and June 4th Chapter meetings ─

Our Endowment Committee is in the process of drafting a Cathedral Investment Policy; Cathedral investments are performing well.

Buildings and Grounds Committee reported a plumbing problem (now fixed, thank you very much) and also that several trees on the property will – sadly – be removed for safety reasons.

The Dean’s Warden, Mark Lester, told us significant effort has gone into developing the web site regarding the Cathedral’s Dean Search – I encourage you to take a look at it often (for updates) as well as the Cathedral Profile Report which confirms how wonderful our Cathedral, staff and congregation are, but we all knew that, right? Helen Chan added that the committee briefed their objectives and status to worshipers on the Sunday Hispanic Misa Service.

Allisyn Thomas will participate as a member of the Diocesan Capital Campaign Committee.

In lieu of July and August Chapter meetings, we agreed to hold a mini retreat/Chapter meeting on Saturday, August 3, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Cathedral Guild Room.

Have a blessed summer!

As always, I encourage you to talk to me during coffee hour after the 10:30pm or 1:00p.m. services or contact me at jmoore405@att.net if you have any thoughts or concerns.
